Renewable energy is key in keeping the greenhouse effect in check, Boris Wasmuth, founder of the Leaders for Climate Action initiative, emphasizes.
“There’s a better world possible, a world that has clean energy, that has cheap energy”, he says. “We don’t have to invent new things. We don’t have to wait, we can start right now.”
Innovation in the chemical industries is another important factor, Christian Vollmann adds. His company, Carbon 1 Green Chemicals, promises to save gigatons of CO2 in shipping and the chemical industry through green ethanol.
“We are disrupting a 100 year old process”, Vollmann says. “We’re a startup from Berlin, currently in pilot stage, and are now developing this technology so that we can produce at mass scale in the future.”
