Art & Tech
From smartphones to VR goggles, the combined power of art and technology is rapidly changing the possibilities of both our imagination and reality. This DLD20 panel brings together Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, artist Alex Israel and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London.
Sharing a passion for innovation, Alex Israel and Evan Spiegel teamed up to create a virtual art piece. Using their smartphones, guests could apply Snapchat lenses over various portraits of Alex Israel himself, which hung in the gallery space. With just a flick of the finger, digital stories burst out of the real life artwork.
Clearly this is just one example of many more to come: From smartphones to VR goggles, the combined power of art and tech is rapidly changing the possibilities of both our imagination and reality.
