In her keynote presentation for the DLD AI Summit 2023, Bavaria’s State Minister of Digital Affairs, Judith Gerlach, outlines her government’s efforts to keep the Southern German state a powerhouse of innovation.
“Is it our Bavarian high-tech agenda, on which we spent 5.5 billion euros in research and development, universities and our economy, that attracts all the smart people?”, Gerlach asks. “Or is it the other way around?”
Six out of 30 German unicorns are based in Bavaria, Gerlach points out. To enable progress, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, will require balancing regulation and innovation, she says.
