Diego Piacentini has done exactly that. After working at Apple and Amazon for more than 20 years, Piacentini returned to his native Italy in 2016 to become the country’s Commissioner for Digital Transformation.

In this lively conversation Paul-Bernhard Kallen, he shares insights about what he learned and how governments all around the world can successfully manage a digital transformation.

Former Commissioner for Digital Transformation for the Italian Government

From 2016 to 2018, Diego Piacentini served as the Italian government’s Commissioner for the Digital Transformation of the Public Administration. Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at Amazon as Senior Vice President of the International Consumer Business. Earlier in his career, Mr. Piacentini held the post of General Manager and Vice President for Apple Europe.
