What happens when a serial problem-solver who helped put a spacecraft on the Moon turns his innovation approach toward his own diagnosis? In this deeply personal DLD Health talk, Achi Krauz – one of Israel’s most successful entrepreneurs and board member of SpaceIL – shares an inspiring story of turning impossible missions into reality.
Krauz opens by explaining his lifelong approach to hard problems: taking every assumption everyone believes is “already known” and converting it into a question to uncover the hidden wall – the unknown blocker standing in the way. This method helped SpaceIL reach the Moon in 2019 for just $99 million by building an open-source knowledge base from a global network of volunteers.
Then, a year before this talk, his next impossible mission found him: a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, with a warning that he had roughly five to six years before facing serious health decline. Refusing to accept that timeline, Krauz applied the same problem-solving method and founded dopa-X, a non-profit organization dedicated to decoding Parkinson’s.
Through dopa-X, he is now working toward an open, AI-powered measurement platform that could make Parkinson’s trials faster, personalize treatment, improve dopamine dosing, and ultimately help turn Parkinson’s into a manageable chronic disease.
