Swedish songwriter and music producer Niclas Molinder discusses rapid changes in the music industry and the potential impact of AI on music creation.
Molinder is well-known for his collaboration with ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus and Max Martin, one of the most successful music producers and songwriters from Sweden.
He sees a “huge need“ to educate music creators about technology and business. “The majority of the creative communities around the world know way too little about how the music industry works”, he says.
In response, Molinder, Ulvaeus and others have created the Music Rights Awareness Foundation and CLIP, a platform for creators to learn intellectual property.
In his highly engaging DLD24 talk, Molinder also demonstrates several AI tools that can generate complete songs automatically or assist with tasks like melody generation, lyrics, and vocal production.
