The success of Airbus as world leader in aviation should inspire Europe to create similar projects for future-forward technologies like quantum computing, fusion energy and artificial intelligence.
That’s what Markus Blume, Bavaria’s State Minister for Science and Art, argues in this brief but passionate DLD24 talk, which serves as an introduction to the related panel discussion Fusion: On the Way to Energy Security.
“My feeling is, what we are missing in Europe is the idea to collaborate and to formulate a coherent mission”, Blume notes.
The big races in technology, he argues, can only be won by pooling talent and expertise. “The idea is to learn from this Airbus moment that we need to collaborate, that we have to set up ambitious programs to move things forward.”
