Follow along as Aleph Alpha founder Jonas Andrulis explores the current state of AI technology and what’s to come in his engrossing DLD talk.
“What you’ve all seen is phenomenal results coming from the current generation of AI”, Andrulis says. “So we’re thinking: is this the same intelligence that humans have?”
Not really, the former Apple executive explains. Because today’s AI systems are essentially based on pattern recognition and memorization, not a true understanding of the complexities of our world.
Therefore we must use AI responsibly by maintaining human involvement and judgment, especially for critical applications, Andrulis argues.
He also illustrates how new methods for explainability and transparency into how AI systems work can help enable human oversight and intervention when the AI gets something wrong or needs correction.
