The Bavarian Minister of Health, Judith Gerlach, discusses the potential of digital health technologies. Her talk illustrates how healthcare systems can remain up-to-date and improve communication through smart integration of AI, efficiency and quality of care.
“We all want a longer, we all want a healthier life, and for that to be possible, we need a powerful healthcare system”, Gerlach notes. “The key, and we all agree on this, is digitized healthcare system.”
AI holds particular promise, she says, due to the power of Large Language Models, which power applications like ChatGPT.
“The potential possibilities are enormous: Applications in remote monitoring and telemedicine, clinical decision support, real-time translation – all open up ways to make care more patient-centered, more personalized.”
Gerlach acknowledges patient fears about the human factor being taken out of the healthcare system. To address these concerns, she advocates for secure, patient-centered solutions and better digital education for healthcare workers and the public.
