Artificial intelligence is transforming the world of audio, promising a future where content is hyper-personalized, interactive, and seamlessly integrated into daily life. In their DLD Future Hub conversation, Michael Höweler (goaudio.ai) and Oz Woloshyn (Kaleidoscope) analyze in detail how this tech innovation may change our media habits.
“Audio is a really unique medium which allows us to do many things at once and faster”, Höweler observes. “As we speak, your brain processes the information 35% faster than if you were reading it”, he adds. Multitasking is another advantage of listening over seeing: “You can’t read while cycling, you can’t watch Netflix while cooking.”
With the help of AI, audio production can also speed up – and adapt to individual needs, Höweler says. His company already produces a personalized morning briefing that skips unwanted topics and goes deeper into areas of interest, delivering what he calls “augmented intelligence.”
Oz Woloshyn, co-founder of Kaleidoscope and an award-winning journalist, highlights AI’s ability to expand the reach and accessibility of content. He shares how AI tools allow his podcasts to be translated into “multiple languages every week at virtually no cost.”
Woloshyn also envisions leveraging AI to repurpose content for new audiences, such as creating child-friendly versions of podcasts: “We don’t need to fully hire a new team. We could simply create two versions from the same input.”
