AI is moving beyond chatbots toward systems that can improve themselves. In their insightful DLD26 conversation, Richard Socher, co-founder of You.com and AIX Ventures, and Axios reporter Ina Fried explore the next big breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and where they will come from.
“AI search infrastructure actually is the most important thing” for a Large Language Model “if you want it to not hallucinate,” Socher notes. This explains the success of You.com, which started as a search engine, with enterprise customers, as they “actually care about the accuracy of their answers”, he says.
The next big leap in AI will come from a technology called recursive self-improvement, Socher predicts. “AI is code and AI can code”, he says. “If you can close that loop in the correct way, you could actually automate the scientific method.”
