Discover Europe’s hidden innovation hubs: In this DLD Future Hub panel, moderated by Christian Teichmann (Burda Principal Investments), three founders from Valencia, Milan and Stuttgart show how they’re deploying AI to solve concrete, everyday problems – from crumbling infrastructure to complex bureaucracy.
Patrick Glaser, CEO of vialytics, explains how his company transforms municipal road management by equipping city vehicles with smartphones that automatically detect damage, like cracks or potholes, using AI.
The system allows cities to visualize maintenance needs on a web-based map, saving money and time. With more than 700 customers and counting, vialytics focuses on smaller and medium-sized cities and counties because “they are faster in their decision-making”, Glaser says.
Álvaro Bernabé, co-founder of Imperia, describes how his team revolutionizes supply chain planning in retail and manufacturing by helping mid-market companies align their forecasting, production, and procurement plans. His goal is to offer the “extreme personalization” that Excel sheets offer and marry it with the advantages of AI, Bernabé says.
Giovanni Pizza, CEO of BonusX, tackles bureaucracy by helping citizens simplify government benefit claims, such as applying for social welfare or scholarship applications. In such cases, AI can act as a “super-specialized consultant” to citizens, Pizza says. “Our mission is to create one platform that covers all opportunities that come from government, but also private entities.”
