European technological sovereignty and defense innovation take center stage as DTCP unveils a major new investment vehicle at DLD Munich 2026. “We are happy to announce today here that we start a 500 million euro fund dedicated to defense, resilience and sovereignty for Europe, which will invest across the whole European digital defense supply chain”, Managing Partner Thomas Preuß tells Financial Times journalist John Thornhill.
The same digital transformation that reshaped companies now has to happen in defense, only faster, Preuß argues. “We may have three to five years to do exactly the same thing which happened in a very fast pace in the private enterprise space”, he says. “This was the point where we as DTCP decided that we will devote our time and our expertise and our capital to start a dedicated defense fund to do this.”
Preuß is candid that defense demands a different playbook than software. “In software you are here to disrupt incumbents”, he notes. In the defense sector, by contrast, “you have to follow a partner-first approach.”
