This DLD24 conversation between Herbert Wigwe, the late CEO of Access Bank Group, and Helmut Schönenberger, the Vice President of UnternehmerTUM in Munich, focuses on the future of higher education in Africa. The moderator is journalist Yinka Adegoke (Semafor).
In his talk, Wigwe describes his new private university in Nigeria which aims to transform tertiary education in Africa. He argues that while Africa’s population boom offers economic promise, strategic investments in education are imperative to foster a skilled middle class.
Wigwe University prioritizes leadership, innovation and global partnerships to revolutionize tertiary education and empower youth to address pressing local and global needs. Later in the session, Wigwe and Schönenberger emphasize the need for global collaboration between universities, governments and the private sector to invest in African youth leadership and innovation.
Tragically, Herbert Wigwe passed away a few weeks after speaking at the conference.
