In this intimate and insightful DLD25 session, Gigi Danziger and Albert Wenger, a married couple with three grown children, share how guided psychedelic therapy has reshaped their relationship and individual perspectives on mental health.
“I never thought I would be here talking about psychedelics”, Gigi Danziger says when moderator Anne Philippi asks why the couple chose to share their deeply personal experience publicly. “But I do believe that it’s important to talk about it because we can normalize it and then so many more people around the world can benefit from it.”
Both Gigi and Albert grew up in environments where mental health was not discussed, but curiosity and the influence of Michael Pollan’s book How to Change Your Mind led them to explore therapeutic psychedelics.
Albert shares his journey from a traditional German upbringing outside Nuremberg where “there was not ever a mention of such a thing as a therapist” to recognizing a decade ago that he had “a real problem” with anger management.
After reading Michael Pollan’s book, he and Gigi decided to try guided sessions in Amsterdam, where a safe and structured environment is now available. “I’ve learned that psychedelics really is the future of mental health”, Gigi says.
