Artificial intelligence promises to become on the most important tools to diagnose and treat cancer. In his DLD24 presentation, Torsten Haferlach, a hematologist with 40 years of experience, goes into great detail to explain how AI could become a gamechanger in medicine.
In many cases, treating cancer requires training and knowledge across different disciplines, he explains. In addition, humans can never hope to be 100% accurate in their efforts to diagnose cancer. “It’s around 80, 85, 90%, maybe 95%”, Haferlach says, “depending on your own experience.”
With the help of AI, however, there’s a good chance that humans can improve the success rate dramatically. “Not only can bring down the time, but we can increase the quality.”
After his presentation, Dr. Haferlach is joined by Sebastian Kuss (EMH Partners) for a discussion about how to make further progress in research and turn the technology’s potential into practice.
