As AI is transforming art and design, its true potential lies in complementing human intuition, not replacing it, this DLD Future Hub panel discussion makes clear. In conversation with journalist Larissa Holzki (Handelsblatt), BMW’s Anders Warming and new media artist Harry Yeff (Reeps100) share their perspectives on co-creating with artificial intelligence.
At German automaker BMW, AI helps designers “create unseen variations that maybe the human mind might not have thought of”, Warming says. Despite all their experience and training humans don’t always find the desired solution – and that’s when “AI will open another door for you”, Warming notes.
For Grammy-winning artist Harry Yeff, AI serves as a collaborator that amplifys creativity in ways that were previously impossible.
Yeff describes using AI to generate synthetic voices and interactive digital twins – tools that push artistic boundaries and provoke new ideas. “Knowledge is the repetition of validated systems, things that we know that works”, he says. “But creativity happens when there is the bravery to explore and find value in new systems of validation.”
