DLD Nature was all about discussing solutions for biodiversity loss, protecting nature and transitioning to a sustainable, future-forward economy.

Matthias Berninger heads Public Affairs, Science, Sustainability and HSE (Health, Environment & Safety) at Bayer AG. He is responsible for the company’s global public affairs practice, and for making Bayer’s approach to sustainability a key pillar of its business strategy.

Dr. Gesa Biermann is the co-founder and CEO of Pina Earth, a climate tech startup based in Germany, backed by Y Combinator. Pina Earth develops climate projects that transform monoculture forests into biodiverse and climate-resilient ecosystems. Gesa Biermann holds a PhD in Sustainability Science from LMU Munich and a Master’s in Sustainable Resource Management from the Technical University of Munich.

Markus Blume is Bavarian State Minister for Science and Art. Previously he was Secretary General of the CSU party from 2018 to 2022. Blume has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament since 2008.

Prof. Katrin Böhning-Gaese is director of the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre and professor at Goethe University Frankfurt. She focuses on the effects of climate and land-use change on biodiversity, as well on the importance of biodiversity for human well-being. Prof. Böhning-Gaese is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz.

Architect Stefano Boeri is a professor of Urban Planning at Politecnico di Milano and Director of the Future City Lab at Tongji University in Shanghai. His work ranges from urban visions to design, with a focus on geopolitical and environmental implications of urban development. Boeri is also known for his research on bringing biodiversity back to cities.

Dr. Sebastian Brandis is Executive Director and Board Spokesman of the Foundation Menschen für Menschen, an NGO that provides sustainable aid for self-development in Ethiopia. Previously, he was managing director at e-shelter, now a unit of NTT Group, which develops and operates data centers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Anne-Sophie Christmann is the General Manager of Regenerate Forum, a non-profit that aims to transform the Lake Constance region into a regenerative climate landscape. After studying viticulture and business administration, she worked as a research associate at the University of Hohenheim and now coordinates training programs on regenerative agriculture and other projects.
