DLD Nature was all about discussing solutions for biodiversity loss, protecting nature and transitioning to a sustainable, future-forward economy.

Stientje van Veldhoven is the Vice President and Regional Director for Europe at the World Resources Institute. A prominent politician in the Netherlands, she has a longstanding involvement in environmental issues, especially related to climate change, energy and the circular economy.

Dr. Joseph (Yossi) Vardi is a co-chairman of DLD. With 40 years experience in building over 60 high-tech companies, he is one of Israel’s early entrepreneurs. Yossi co-pioneered instant messaging as the founding investor and the former Chairman of Mirabilis Ltd., creator of ICQ, later acquired by AOL.

Dr. Katrin Vohland is Director General of the Natural History Museum Vienna. Her research focuses on the interface between science and different public audiences, including policy. She develops Open Science strategically for the collections, the museum and beyond, including Citizen Science where she is active to employ integrative and reflective approaches.

Roman Werner is Managing Director of the TUM Venture Lab Food-Agro-Biotech (FAB), a university start-up center, where he oversees a wide variety of projects and ventures. Werner’s main research area is process engineering in the beverage and food industry. Other research areas include novel sensor technologies as well as digitization concepts that drive the transformation of the food industry in the age of digitization.

Prof. Dr. Gert Wörheide is an evolutionary geobiologist specializing in the biodiversity, evolution, and biomineralization of coral reef organisms. He holds the Chair for Paleontology & Geobiology at LMU Munich and is Director of the Bavarian State Collections for Paleontology and Geology.
