Ursula von der Leyen is the first woman to become President of the European Commission. A longtime member of Germany’s CDU, Ms. von der Leyen served in the cabinet of Angela Merkel before moving to Brussels in 2019 to lead the EU Commission.

Maria Furtwängler is an acclaimed and multi award-winning-actress, producer and activist. She co-founded DLD Women. In 2016, she founded the MaLisa Foundation together with her daughter Elisabeth. The foundation’s work focuses on the protection of social diversity, biodiversity and the climate, a crisis that is the central issue of our time, if not our century.

Steffi Czerny is Managing Director of DLD Media and co-founder of the DLD Conference as well as its global spin-offs. Steffi was identified as number 30 of The 2015 Wired 100 and has also been chosen as one of the 50 most inspiring women in European tech in 2015 by inspiring50.com for her success in bringing the international digital elite together at DLD.

Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen is a physician and founder of the NGO “Healthy Planet – Healthy People” (Stiftung Gesunde Erde – Gesunde Menschen). An expert on climate and planetary health communication, he has sold more than 5 million books and is a prominent TV personality in Germany.

Prof. Dr. Johan Rockström is the Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. He is a leading scientist on global water resources and has published more than 150 research papers in various fields related to global sustainability issues. He is also an advisor to the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences (UNFCCC), among others.

Sandrine Dixson-Declève is the Co-President of the Club of Rome and divides her time between lecturing, facilitating change in business and policy models and advisory work. Dirk Rossmann is the founder of ROSSMANN, one of Europe’s largest drugstore chains. He opened Germany’s first self-service drugstore in 1972. Today, his company employs more than 60,000 people and operates some 4,500 branches. Dirk Rossmann considers addressing climate change and its impacts on our planet as the most urgent issue of our time.
